Where does this data come from?
Recent and forecast snowfall at Mürren/Schilthorn is modelled by Open-Meteo from the best available national weather models and ECMWF, at the resort's grid point and downscaled to the upper mountain (2,949 m).
Season-to-date totals are rebuilt daily from the ECMWF IFS archive and compared with the same model's 9 seasons from 2017–18 to 2025–26, so "% of normal" compares like with like.
Snow depth is measured at the SLF IMIS station Russisprung (2,150 m, 5.6 km away), last reading Sat 17 Oct, 12:00 CEST.
Models smooth out terrain, so treat the numbers as a guide and cross-check the resort's own report. Never use them for avalanche decisions: read the SLF avalanche bulletin.
